The Fourth of July weekend was definitely one for the books! During the weekend, I had two out of state shows. One was in Davenport, IA and the other in Dubuque, IA. Read below some of the highlights from the weekend:
Davenport, IA
The first stop on my mini tour was to Kilkenny’s Pub in Davenport, IA. Devon and I usually travel during the day so we can do some sightseeing along the way, especially since this show does not start until 10pm. When we arrived in Davenport, the first thing we wanted was dinner. We decided to have Front Street Pub and Eatery. I loved that they had vegetarian options and had an impossible burger. Devon had the wickedest burger. After having dinner, we had to get Whitey’s Ice Cream as I was excited to try their current summer special the John Deere flavor. It was basically lemon and lime sherbet mixed together and it was a refreshing flavor of ice cream. Perfect for the summer!
Next, I performed my show at Kilkenny’s Pub in Downtown Davenport. Every time I play Kilkenny’s Pub, I love the crowd! Everyone is ready to have a good time and truly supports local music. The audience members are engaged, ask for requests, follow my social media and want to get to know me. It is such a great venue to be at and perform all night long.
Finally, in the morning, Devon and I needed some caffeine! We decided to attend the local farmers’ market. It is called the Freight House Farmers Market. Our experience was probably different from most due to the change in location because of the rain. The Mississippi River has flooded the streets so the building the Freight House Farmers Market is in, had to be moved up the street. Regardless, there was a wide variety of great vendors and even live music. Devon and I got our coffee fix and enjoyed the morning attending a local farmers’ market.
Dubuque, IA
My second stop for the weekend was Gary Dolphin’s Iron Bar in Dubuque, IA. One thing Dubuque, IA is known for is its nightlife and it really showed at my gig! When Devon and I arrived we first went to grab some dinner at Backpocket Brewing. This was a great dinner spot because not only did they have great food options, but they had classic and retro arcade games that you put in quarters to play. We played Pac-Man and ate our tacos until it was time for my performance.
When it was time to head to Gary Dolphin’s I was excited to return to this venue because there is such a great party energy! This time, I was invited to perform outside on their patio which was great! There were lots of people outside enjoying the weather and ready for live music. Again, the crowd was so engaging and asking for requests throughout the evening! I truly enjoy performing at Gary Dolphin’s Iron Bar and was glad to be back!
Finally, after another late night show, Devon and I were ready for more coffee. We asked someone local to the area for a great coffee stop and they recommended Charlotte’s Coffeehouse. We were able to walk to it from our hotel and it was adorable. Charlotte’s is a brick building with a cozy interior that includes many great breakfast and coffee options. I got a lavender chai and Devon got a strawberry banana protein smoothie. We shared our drinks and they were both amazing. The smoothie truly had lots of fruit and healthy options and not too much sugar in it to make it a great thing to sip on for breakfast!
Devon and I truly enjoyed our time in Davenport and Dubuque, Iowa and can’t wait for more adventures on mini tours!
