One book I enjoy teaching out of is The Singer’s Musical Theatre Anthology: Duets, Volume 3. Listed below are three songs I enjoy teaching out of this book:

Do You Love Me? From Fiddler on the Roof

A heartfelt piece that is full of challenges. The singers go back and forth for students to learn to listen to one another like a call and response. Fiddler on the Roof is such a classic musical, it is a great way to go back to 1964 and learn some classical musicals. 

Agony from Into the Woods

Looking for something funny to sing? “Agony” is the perfect duet! Both Rapunzel and Cinderella’s prince share their struggles about falling in love while competing with one another. This song is perfect for two guys looking to have a piece that works with their humorous side.

For Good from Wicked

This is a song I love to save for seniors. The well known piece from Wicked is a great duet for an alto and soprano. It highlights solo sections and a fun section where the singers overlap their two parts. It is a heartfelt challenge that can have anyone watching full of emotion.
